Just a note to let you know I had our carpets cleaned by Chem-Dry today. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! For those of you that don't know, our son Zach lives in our lower level and works for Valv-o-line. Let's just say he is not very good at removing his shoes (and neither are his friends) before walking on the relatively light carpet. The carpet in front of his sofa was incredibly dirty (oil stained). In addition, let's just say there have been a few too many party spills (beverage and food). Not only did they get all the stains out, but I truly think they removed some dirt that the last company was not able to get out. Honestly, except for a small wear path it looks like new again. I never thought I would see it that way again until we replaced it. The other great thing is they were able to clean a large area rug. What was really surprising is that the carpet was not saturated with water. I thought that was because of the "chemicals" they use and that is why I had always shied away from them, but when I called they explained the process and it not chemicals (you'll have to let them explain it to you). It is a family and pet safe process.
They also do tile/grout cleaning. It seems a little pricey, but when I started thinking about how long it took me to seal the tile when we first built our home and how long it would take me to restore the grout and reseal (and how my knees are six years older) we decided we are going to have them do it for us. I'll let you know what we think.
