Pet Odor Removal by Chem-Dry of Madison
Pet urine in carpeting can be difficult to address because it may affect more than the carpet surface. Depending on the amount of urine, how long it has been present, and the materials beneath the carpet, additional treatment may be needed beyond routine cleaning.
P.U.R.T.® is a professional pet urine treatment used by Chem-Dry to help address urine-related odor concerns in carpets and rugs. Your technician will inspect the affected areas and recommend a treatment approach based on the condition of the carpet, pad, and flooring beneath.

What To Know About Pet Urine In Your Carpeting
Urine deposited on carpet may move into the carpet fibers, backing, pad, or flooring material below. Pets may also return to the same general area, which can make the affected area larger than it first appears.
As urine dries, residue can remain in the carpet and surrounding materials. Your technician can inspect the area, identify visible or suspected problem spots, and discuss available treatment options.
P.U.R.T.® is applied to affected areas as part of a professional treatment process designed to help address urine-related odor concerns.

How P.U.R.T.® Works
- The source and extent of the odor concern are evaluated. The carpet may be rinsed and extracted to help remove urine residue from the affected area.
- In some cases, the carpet may be pulled back in suspected areas so the technician can inspect the pad and flooring beneath.*
- If needed, the pad may be removed and replaced.*
- An odor-blocking coating may be applied to the subfloor if the technician determines it is appropriate.*
- P.U.R.T.® may be applied to affected areas such as the tack strip, subfloor, baseboards, carpet backing, and carpet fibers, depending on the inspection findings.*
- The treated area will be allowed time to dry and complete the service process. Your technician will provide care instructions and expectations based on your specific situation.
*Additional charges may apply based on your unique situation and the services recommended. Please call Chem-Dry of Madison to learn more about P.U.R.T.® at (608) 271-5900.
